We have and exciting opportunity to join a discovery team focusing on neurodegenerative diseases, and to develop a range of valuable laboratory techniques as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cell Biology

You will join our team carrying out experimental work in cell biology and neuroscience, with the aim to study mechanisms of neurodegeneration caused by defective endocytosis and vesicle acidification. You will take part in basic cell biology-based research in areas such as cell culture, transfection, Western blotting, DNA amplification and purification, confocal imaging, genotyping. You will be responsible for keeping accurate records of work, including data entry into computerised databases, plus implementation of clear pipelines and logical nomenclature for sample tracking and to test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in Cell Biology or Pharmacy, together with experience in cell-based assays for organelle acidification and in live imaging of cells and neurons. You will possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes and will be able to manage your own research and administrative activities. Excellent communication skills and evidence of ability to work and communicate in a multi-disciplinary team is also essential for this role.
