About This Opportunity
The main objective of this position is to contribute to the
Translational Extracellular Vesicles in Obstetrics and Gynae-Oncology Group at UQCCR's research program on extracellular vesicles in ovarian cancer. The successful candidate will lead and conduct independent research projects focused on understanding the role and mechanisms of exosomes in ovarian cancer progression and identify exosome-based biomarkers for disease monitoring.
Additionally, the role includes publishing research outcomes, contributing to funding applications, mentoring students, and pursuing career development opportunities such as independent fellowships and grants. The position offers a chance to engage in translational research and industry-partnered projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research: Collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, participate in project discussions, and ensure adherence to ISO17025 standards for reproducibility and quality assurance in research outputs.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, ensure correct remuneration and benefits, and train staff and students in Quality Management System (QMS) principles under ISO17025, emphasizing proper documentation, traceability, and method validation.
Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, uphold university values, and integrate QMS compliance practices in laboratory workflows and collaborative projects.

About You
Completion of a PhD in the Medical Science.
Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), including adherence to ISO17025 standards for ensuring reproducibility, traceability, and quality assurance in research activities.
An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.
Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.
Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including right to work in Australia, mandatory immunisations etc.
