Founded in 2018, SoDa Laboratories was Monash Business School's first Impact Lab. SoDa Labs exists to discover social science insights from alternative data. SoDa Labs couples a large appetite for rapidly emerging sources of new data with a pan-empirical toolset that ranges from causal empirical methodologies to the latest data science and machine learning approaches. Research outputs from the lab are published in high quality outlets across both empirical social science (Economics, Econometrics) and machine learning (applied and core conferences and journals). SoDa Labs is also home to the Monash IP Observatory and an expanding range of empirical and AI based applications including Forum Brain AI, SETU Explorer, and the Feedback Distillery. As such, SoDa Labs makes a significant contribution to Monash University's Impact 2030 strategic research goals, particularly in relation to the global challenge of geopolitical security.
