  • About This Opportunity

    This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in biological anthropology and bioarchaeology as part of an ARC Future Fellowship examining social and temporal dynamics of bone remodelling. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will join an international team of anthropologists and archaeologists led by Dr Justyna Miszkiewicz and will have access to world class microscopy laboratories. We are looking for expertise in archaeological bone histology and experience or knowledge of synchrotron science applied to archaeological bone samples. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.

    Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.

  • Teaching: Contribute to the development and delivery of teaching and courses if opportunities arise.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).

  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

    About You

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in the discipline area, including (bio)archaeology, (biological) anthropology.

  • An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.

  • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.

  • Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities

  • The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including: right to work in Australia and education check.
