Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Grade 7: £36,024 – £44,263 pa

Fixed term for 24 months

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Single Molecule Chromatin Replication.

The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 2 years, with the possibility of extension for 1 year.

This project will investigate the molecular mechanisms of chromatin replication using single-molecule imaging, biochemical and biophysical approaches. The project aims to uncover how specific epigenetic marks and histone variants affect nucleosome dynamics during DNA replication. Please see the Job Description for further details of the role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the project and project planning in consultation with the PI and other members of the group. The post-holder will be expected to communicate their research at internal and external meetings and to collaborate in the preparation of scientific papers and reports.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach. This may include lecturing, small group teaching, and tutoring of undergraduates and graduate students.

Applicants should hold (or be close to completion) a PhD in molecular biophysics, biochemistry or a related field, and have a strong background in recombinant DNA and protein production methods. This project requires experience in biochemical and/or biophysical approaches to study proteins and their interactions. Please see the Selection Criteria for further details.

Previous experience in the field of single-molecule biophysics or DNA transactions will be an advantage.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate success in solving biological problems through research and a willingness to learn new techniques and apply them through interdisciplinary research.
