Background

We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate in HCI or design-related field (or relevant professional experience) to join a new UKRI-funded Future Leaders Fellowship project called, More-than-Human Sustainable and Inclusive Smart Cities (MoSaIC). Based in the Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design, you will join a supportive and stimulating environment for interdisciplinary research. You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities including digital and 3D fabrication workshops, VR studios and an interaction lab. The campus is based in Central London, with excellent public transport links and amenities including cafes, restaurants and parks.

Responsibilities

The role involves co-designing new ways to plan and design smart cities for thriving cohabitation with other species. You will help co-create new methods, approaches, prototypes, reports, publications and exhibitions. You will work in a team with other researchers, PhDs, and project partners from different sectors, helping to develop this new area of research, influence practice and policymaking, and manage the fieldwork sites.

Person Specification

This role would suit someone with a high level of creativity and open- mindedness, comfortable working with experimental methods, interdisciplinary and participatory approaches, and willing to learn new skills.
