This new full-time post is available from 1 April 2024 until 31 March 2026 on a fixed term basis.
The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in the work of Dr Vicki Gold, Dr Remy Chait and Dr Tobias Bergmiller. This Leverhulme Trust funded post is available from 1 April 2024 until 31 March 2026. The successful applicant will investigate the lifecycle of a filamentous phage using a combination of fluorescence light microscopy, single-cell microfluidics and electron cryo- microscopy (cryoEM). About you
PDRA: The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD in in Biochemistry/Biological Sciences (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.
Candidates will be expected to be motivated and demonstrate good knowledge of the topic, possess excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative spirit, combined with an ability to think carefully about their research. Experience of electron-cryo microscopy and image processing would be a strong advantage.
PDRF: The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD in Biochemistry/Biological Sciences or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in the subject area and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
Candidates will be expected to be motivated and demonstrate good knowledge of the topic, possess excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative spirit, combined with an ability to think carefully about their research. The successful applicant will also be able to supervise the work of others as required. Experience of electron-cryo microscopy and image processing would be a strong advantage.
