The Center for Quantum Devices at the Niels Bohr Institute is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to develop quantum devices for analog quantum simulation.

The Project The position focuses on the experimental implementation of quantum devices and their use for quantum simulation, based on gate-controlled quantum dots and superconducting resonators. Research involves the design of devices, supervision of nanofabrication, low-temperature physics using a cryofree dilution refrigerator, rf and microwave signal generation and detection, data analysis, interaction with theoretical physicists and scientific writing in English.

Applicants should hold a PhD degree in Physics or Applied Physics with relevant experimental experience and a track record within their fields, with experience with spin qubits, quantum-dot fabrication and/or high-frequency measurement considered a plus.

Further information on the Department is linked at www.

The position is open from 15 May 2024 or by arrangement and the contract runs for a minimum of two years.

Inquiries about the position can be made to Professor Ferdinand Kuemmeth [email protected]) and Professor Jesper Nygård [email protected]

Description of the scientific environment The Center for Quantum Devices is a research center comprising materials research, experimental solid-state physics, quantum nanoelectronics, and condensed matter theory. It has a state-of-the-art fabrication cleanroom enabling researchers to conduct their experiments on the highest-quality devices.

The Center provides a vibrant scientific environment with cutting-edge research performed across many different groups in quantum devices, quantum hardware, and fundamental condensed matter, with close ties to a strong theory department as well as longstanding collaborations with industry. The center is part of the Niels Bohr Institute, which has played a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of quantum physics for the past century.
