Position Summary

To meet the challenge of identifying safe and effective staffing and in response to issues highlighted in recently published reports, the Department of Health published the Framework for Safe Nurse Staffing and Skill Mix in General and Specialist Medical and Surgical Care Settings in Adult Hospitals in Ireland (Department of Health 2018) and the Framework for Safe Nurse Staffing and Skill Mix in Adult Emergency Care Settings in Ireland (Department of Health 2022). The School of Nursing and Midwifery is currently recruiting a Post Doctoral Researcher for the longitudinal evaluation of the impact of these Frameworks for safe nurse staffing and work on the wider programme of research into safe nurse staffing and skill-mix. The role will involve leading a team of researchers, working closely with the Principal Investigator(s), in the delivery of project outputs as per pre- defined timelines. The research is being undertaken nationally so the candidate should be willing to travel. Key duties and responsibilities can be found below.
