Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 526959) , to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in biological or physical science, with experience in cryo-EM specimen preparation and data processing. Experience in single particle cryo-EM or X-ray crystallography is essential for this post. Experience in molecular biology, protein expression and protein purification will be an advantage. They should be organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team. The appointee will be involved in the structure determination of amyloids by cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) as part of a research programme focused on Amyloids as Substrate of Biological Functions. The appointee will be responsible for sample preparation from human and animal tissue, structure determination by cryo-EM and subsequent structural and biochemical analysis of biologically active amyloids involved in memory persistence and animal development. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary project team, will interact closely with biologists and computational biologists, and will have access to HKU state- of-the art cryo-EM facility, which includes an in-house Glacios and a Titan KRIOS as well as to the Centre for PanorOmic Sciences.
