About the role

About the role

The Inner Safety Project is funding a post-doctoral researcher in the Experimental Psychology department at UCL to work across three interconnected strands: 1) examining how lifetime experiences of safety may correlate to structural differences in the brain, using existing structural fMRI data from an accelerated aging study conducted with Dartmouth College and the Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Kenya; 2) developing integrative conceptual and methodological frameworks for studying felt safety across psychological, biological, cultural, and spiritual dimensions; and 3) exploring how psychosocial experiences, particularly humiliation and restricted agency, shape safety perceptions, regulation, and wellbeing in trauma-exposed populations. This role involves research in a cognitive neuroscience laboratory, including brain imaging analysis, and brain data collection. As such, this position requires working on campus in a lab from time to time. It also involves travel to conferences and meetings to support funders.

This role is eligible for hybrid working.
