Background of the recruitment and description of the project Background of the recruitment and description of the project The Kanazawa University Cancer Research Institute (KU-CRI) bears the distinction of being the only institute solely focused on cancer research amongst the Research Institutes and Centers of Japan National Universities. Its mission is to promote basic research focusing on the “mechanisms of cancer malignancy” so to develop innovative diagnostics and treatments that utilize novel molecules and models, and cultivate professionals who will lead future cancer research and healthcare. In particular, the institute focuses on " understanding of the mechanisms of basic cellular functions," "interdisciplinary research with innovative technology," and "clinical data science", with the goals of (1) discovering new principles of life, (2) understanding the nature of cancer and (3) developing diagnostic and therapeutic methods for cancer. Work content and job description Research that aims to (i) discover new life principles related to cancer, (ii) elucidate the nature of cancer, such as the mechanisms of carcinogenesis and malignant progression, or (iii) develop diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for cancer, from various perspective, such as "understanding the mechanisms of basic cellular functions," "interdisciplinary research with innovative technology," and "data science".
