The Department of Teacher Education is accepting applications for potential Instructor openings for Special Education for the academic year of 2023-2024. The need for these positions is undetermined at this time and is dependent on operational need including enrollment and staffing. If a need arises, the department will select candidates from this posting. Application to this pool will be utilized to fill part-time, non-tenure track, non- benefits eligible instructor positions on the Athens campus as student demand dictates for fall, spring, and summer semesters. The number of Teacher Education courses offered each semester is dependent on student demand. The need may include both graduate and undergraduate courses in Special Education. The successful applicant will bring strong qualifications both academically and professionally.

Responsibilities :

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses on campus and/or online.
  • Contribute to the instructional mission of the Teacher Education
  • Department and Patton College of Education.
  • Using blackboard for academic engagement
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in the field or comparable (for undergraduate-level courses) or terminal degree in the field or comparable (for graduate-level courses)
  • Current or prior teaching license
  • Experience teaching students for that field
  • Experience using technology for teaching
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant and recent Pre K-12 classroom based experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theory and research-supported best practices for teaching and learning
  • Licensure in content area
  • Experience facilitating professional development and/or instruction in higher education
  • Evidence of professional training or attendance and/or presentations at conferences
  • Ability to deliver effective asynchronous online instruction
