Your new role

We have an exciting position available for an experienced and innovative Platform Security Lead to join our high performing team. Working within the Digital Platforms team, a key component of the university's digital platform, you will drive technology and process advancements to ensure a secure and agile IT platform, offering strategic security direction to IT leadership and engineering teams.

This position focuses on information security management and regulatory compliance, within large scale computing environments.

As the Platform Security Lead, you will be responsible for the:

  • Provide expert technical leadership in security, advising on complex solutions and standards for Cloud security compliance.
  • Implement industry security policies and ensure adherence to relevant standards.
  • Lead engineering efforts to produce secure systems, that meet security outcomes, to time and budget. In addition, lead the design and development of distributed systems.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, training, and advice in best practices.
  • Lead security evaluation of technology implementations, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Train DevOps and Architects to enhance security compliance and reduce dependence on the Security Engineer.
  • We are looking for someone with:

  • Relevant degree with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • AWS Cloud Security Engineer and Cloud Security Architect certifications.
  • Significant experience with industry compliance and security standards including PCI DSS, SOC2, ISO 27001, NIST/DoD, ASD Essential 8, COBIT.
  • WAF, IPS and anti-DDOS systems experience.
  • Extensive experience with encryption in-flight and at-rest practices, as well as certificate and secrets management, security event & incident management.
  • Extensive IT Compliance and risk management experience
  • Experience with network / perimeter security platforms.
  • As this is a permanent position, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role to be considered. This position is based at our Curtin Bentley campus, candidates are expected to either be currently located in Perth, WA, or express a willingness to relocate.
