The Finance Division is looking for a Planning Partner to work with the University's professional services and collections on a diverse portfolio of service and surplus improvement projects. As part of the Academic & Financial Planning & Analysis team (AFPA), you will play a vital role in the work of that team, to support the University's academic mission by enabling the development, prioritisation and implementation of academic and strategic plans within financially sustainable budgets.

The Role

This role is responsible within AFPA for leading and coordinating long-term strategic planning across professional services and collections, and enabling the alignment of overall plans with University-wide financial planning and resourcing strategies. As Planning Partner, this role will:

  • Inform, influence and enable effective, evidence-based decision making for operational and infrastructure planning for professional services and collections.
  • Provide leadership in the provision of high-quality partnering support to colleagues in professional services and collections, establishing, maintaining and extending a network of planning contacts and strong, stakeholder relationships across the University.
  • Be a key source of expertise for senior University leaders such as Pro- Vice-Chancellors.
  • Your Skills

  • A good understanding of higher education in the UK
  • An innovative approach to problem solving in a complex organisational structure and within a committee-driven policy framework
  • Capacity to think strategically and to innovate
  • Experience of operating at a senior level with multiple stakeholders
  • Benefits

The University offers an excellent benefit package including:

  • 41 days annual leave, inclusive of Bank Holidays
  • Defined benefits pension schemes
  • Flexible working options
  • Family-friendly initiatives
  • Career development opportunities
  • Support for health & mental wellbeing
  • Discounts on shopping
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Public transport season ticket loans
  • Tax-efficient bicycle and charity-giving schemes
  • Location

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role.

Funding for this post is permanent.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure and a security check.
