    We are seeking a proactive, organised and flexible Planned Preventative Maintenance Supervisor to join our award winning Estates & Campus Services team, supporting the Director of Estates & Campus Services with delivery of the University's Estates Strategy and departmental objectives.

    The post holder will ensure statutory compliance of the built environment. They will oversee the delivery of planned preventative maintenance of all building systems through, both in house teams and contractors to ensure safe operating models are adhered to and quality outputs are maintained.

    The post holder will have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of building systems, infrastructure and building related compliance.

    This full time post is required to cover core hours of operation, however will need to be flexible to ensure that contractors are supported during service and maintenance visits.     Day to day:

  • Empower operatives to achieve the right work at the right time.
  • Manage, monitor, and measure operatives and contractors' workmanship.
  • Scope small surveys of work and identify PPM tasks.
  • Escalate serious events and occurrences.
  • Deliver toolbox talks.
  • Write and review Safe Operating procedures.
  • Provide escalation for the on call out of hours service.
  • Manage all aspects of employee welfare, absence, attendance and performance.
  • Reinforce the Health & Safety Culture
  • About you

    Reporting to the Planned Maintence & Contracts Manager, you will have an excellent understanding of health and safety legislation and its application in building maintenance. You will be organised in your approach to work and time management. Be proactive, responsive and lead by example for the expected quality and safety standards within the team.

    You will have a positive professional and versatile attitude, excel communication & negotiation skills with both staff and contractors, allowing us to keep track of works and ensuring progress is monitored and accurately reported.

    This post will require you to demonstrate statutory compliance and KPI outcomes, managing a high quality of workmanship in the delivery of planned works stream. The post holder will carefully observe service delivery to provide coaching, make recommendations for training and coordinate resources to ensure the successful completion of tasks. Your mechanical and/or electrical knowledge will help you quickly resolve issues or identify additional tasks/gaps in service, with the ability to support business decisions with technical reports.

    Being responsible for aspects of staff management, from planning schedules to recruitment, performance monitoring & management. Also holding excellent IT skills and the ability to control a budget.

    Change management experience with the ability to adapt to technological advances is key as the estate has some advanced systems and will continue to develop as we grow.

    A clear ability to deal with critical incidents relating to services and develop planned programmes in to monitor and manage the condition of the estate.

    Qualifications

    Essential;

  • Electrical or Mechanical qualification to minimum NVQ Level 3
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Desirable;

  • L8 Management qualification
  • High Voltage Management qualification
  • Please note, a Full UK driving licence is required for this role.
