About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Administrator to join the Faculty of Engineering and Design Placement Team. Within this role, you'll utilise your administrative and interpersonal skills to make an impact on student employability.

Our engineering and architecture undergraduates undertake a placement in industry as part of their degree. This is a varied and vital role in providing administrative support to students, the placement Team, academic colleagues and industrial partners. You will communicate with current and potential employers on a daily basis, answering queries and providing support to ensure the smooth running of our professional placement programmes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a point of contact for students, staff, employers and external stakeholders, dealing with enquiries and providing support in a professional and timely manner
  • Creating the Moodle portal and supporting the on-going maintenance and development including uploading information, making updates/improvements etc as required and providing training/support to academic staff
  • Assisting students with queries relating to forms, reports, poster exhibitions, tutor visits and other aspects of their placement
  • Contacting students to ensure timely submission of documentation and participation in all other requirements of the placement unit
  • This position is offered on a full-time, open-ended basis. The team are currently following a hybrid working pattern with 60% of their time on campus.

    About you

    Our ideal candidate will be:

  • A motivated administrator who enjoys working in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experienced in or interested in learning how to develop virtual learning environments such as Moodle
  • Interested in developing processes to make efficiencies or improve the student experience
  • A clear and professional communicator both verbally and written, for liaising with industry contacts and students
  • Able to give high levels of attention to detail to ensure accurate records and systems are maintained as well as the organisational skills for running events
  • You will be supported in developing your knowledge of Education Software by our Technology Enhanced Learning Team.

    About us

    We are a supportive team of five Placement Officers, one Placement Manager and one Placement Administrator with the team a mixture of full-time and part-time staff. We benefit from being embedded within the Faculty but also maintain strong links with the central careers service and other Faculty Placement teams. We are a student and industry facing team who enjoy supporting students to secure and start their first professional roles in industry.
