Job description

This role is full time, permanent.

Closing date: 23:59 on 30th October 2026

Interview date: TBC. The interview will include a presentation during the interview slot and an administrative task reflective of the expectations within the placement coordination role.

Due to the complexity of the Skilled Worker Visa route and eligibility criteria, applicants requiring sponsorship are recommended to check their eligibility on the Home Office website. We cannot provide advice to candidates at the application stage and will only discuss visa routes with candidates who are invited to interview.

There may be costs associated with a visa application, including the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), which are not paid for by the University of Reading and cannot be claimed back. For further information on potential costs please visit:  Healthcare Surcharge Information GOV.UK

The University of Reading provides a wide range of inclusive work-related and placement learning opportunities across its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These range from employer-led projects and shorter placements to professional placement year programmes

We also support placement activity across our Professional, Statutory and Regulated programmes, including a substantial clinical portfolio and Initial Teacher Training.

We are looking for a skilled careers professional with experience of placements, employability and early careers development. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, a strong understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, and a genuine commitment to supporting students to build their employability, confidence and readiness for the workplace as part of a team.

You will have :

  • Experience of working with students in an early careers context, either higher education or within industry and recruitment
  • Experience in designing, co-producing and delivering workshops and facilitating large group training
  • Experience of facilitating student placements / internship schemes or similar in or outside of the curriculum
  • Experience of working with students in an advisory or support role
