Professor Valeri Petkov in the Department of Physics at Central Michigan University (CMU) is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow in the area of experimental structure studies on quantum materials and materials for battery applications. This is a grant-funded appointment. The initial appointment is 7 months and will begin on or around November 1, 2023, and extends to May 31, 2023. An extension of the position is contingent upon continued grant funding. The position comes with a competitive salary and benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science, synchrotron x-ray and/or neutron diffraction, atomic pair distribution, and Rietveld analysis completed within the past 6 years.
  • ABD's (all but dissertation) may apply, but Ph.D. must be completed prior to the start of the position.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in magnetic and/or transport properties characterization and scientific computing/programming.
