About the position

PhD Student Scholarship – ‘Data-driven Cardiovascular Health’ based at the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare (IEBH), Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, Bond University

About the Scholarship

The Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare is calling for expressions of interest from health graduates wishing to complete a PhD exploring the potential of data-driven cardiovascular health. A full-time scholarship will be offered to a suitable candidate upon successful enrolment in a Doctor of Philosophy at Bond University. Ongoing research, once enrolled, by the PhD Candidate will lead to refinement of the specific research questions and projects.

The primary supervisor will be Professor Julie Redfern, Director of the Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare, Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, Bond University.

Proposed area of research

  1. Analysis of the literature relating to the use of data-driven healthcare improvement.
  2. Co-design of a dashboard for synthesising Australian cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention data.
  3. Evaluation of implementation of data-driven cardiovascular health.
  4. Evaluation of analytical data to explore efficiency opportunities in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease.

About the person

Selection Criteria include the following:

Essential

  1. Bachelor degree in health and/or data-analytics
  2. Experience creating and/or using software to synthesise data
  3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team
  4. Evidence of research project experience and organisational skills, including the ability to achieve goals and deliver outcomes within a specified time period

Desirable

  1. Demonstrated interest in the research area
  2. Experience understanding potential links between data and health
  3. Experience undertaking a substantial research project (e.g. Masters or Honours Thesis)
  4. Publication in a peer-reviewed journal
  5. Experience presenting a research study
  6. Capacity to seek external funding with support from supervisors

 It is also a requirement that the successful applicant be based full-time at the Gold Coast campus.

Salary details

The successful applicant will be entitled to the following benefits:

Tuition fee waiver:A100% tuition waiver will exempt the successful applicant from tuition fees for a maximum period of four years full-time equivalent.

Stipend: A living stipend at a flat rate of $42,440 per annum for a maximum period of three years for full-time study

Employment opportunities: The successful applicant may be provided with research assistant work within the Institute for Evidence Based Healthcare. Employment will be subject to the conditions of the PhD program and the terms of any scholarship awarded.
