Project: The successful applicant will study temporal and spatial patterns as well as the consequences and drivers of dragonfly migration in northern Europe. The joint project (University of Tübingen, TU Braunschweig) comprises field trips to the Baltic Coast and lab work (stable isotope and genetic analyses) in Germany with the aim to gain a doctoral degree in Geoecology/Biology.
Your profile: We are looking for a dynamic, serious, and motivated researcher with a Master’s degree in Geoecology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Physical Geography, Landscape Ecology or a related discipline. The successful candidate should have a keen interest in movement ecology and ideally have experience with stable isotopes and/or population genetics. Good quantitative skills, a meticulous work attitude in the lab, scientific curiosity, and enthusiasm for research are essential. In addition, the candidate should have good communication skills to work in a highly collaborative and international environment, as well as a very good command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of German is appreciated but is not a requirement.
Our offer: We are two international research groups in Tübingen, a dynamic, and lively university town (www.uni-tuebingen.de) and one of the 15 German Excellence Universities. Our institutes are located in the city centre (Institute of Geography) and at the Morgenstelle (Institute for Ecology and Evolution), and both can be easily reached with public transport or bike. The successful candidate will join the EVEREST research school. To this end, we promote the scientific independence of the candidate, support the scientific qualification and career planning, and offer networking opportunities within and beyond Tübingen.
