About the Scholarship We have an exciting scholarship opportunity for a suitable candidate to undertake a PhD within Swinburne's Department of Mechanical and Product Design Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to the “Study of Cold Spray Ti Coated Mild Steel Oxidation with and without Electro Plastic Treatment project”, which aims to study the mechanisms of steel substrate protection at lower film builds and possible bimetallic corrosion interactions between the deposited Ti and steel substrate. The key research areas of the project include building on results that led to significant improvement in durability of mild steel via a new robotic additive coating process at high thicknesses of deposited titanium.
Focusing on applied research that benefits industry by solving real-world challenges, The CSIRO Industry PhD Program (iPhD) aims to produce the next generation of innovation leaders with the skills to work at the interface of research and industry in Australia.
