Area of researchIn recent years, IoT has been widely used as a promising solution in various sectors. For example, the integration of drones with the IoT has resulted in a paradigm known as the Interne of Drones (IoD) which have several potential applications towards sustainable smart environments. Specifically, IoD can play a significant role in disaster management, health monitoring, and smart agriculture. Additionally, IoD is observing an immense interest from industry to integrate drone systems with the traditional networks while dealing with several aspects related to Quality of Service (QoS), Quality of Experience (QoE), deployment issues, and reliable communications. Moreover, drones play a vital role in deploying LTE networks in remote locations. Drones are also considered as an important part of 5G/6G deployments where they can be used to enhance the coverage and capacity of the network. Therefore, the main aim of this PhD position is to develop a system using the IoD paradigm that provides monitoring and surveillance and assists people in event of emergency.
