Job Purpose
You will work within the Performance, Pay and Reward Team, having operational oversight and responsibility for the delivery across its broad range of activities, including but not limited to, Academic Promotion, Professorial Zone Movement, Early Career Development Programme (ECDP), Performance and Development Review (PDR) and Reward & Benefits. Working under the guidance of the Lead People & OD Business Partners you will provide effective and efficient professional support and advice directly to managers and staff, as well as being an effective delivery partner to People & OD colleagues. Using your knowledge and experience you will ensure all relevant deadlines are planned and met while taking responsibility for key functional relationships and day-to-day liaison between the team and relevant stakeholders.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Deliver day-to-day operational team leadership in the Performance, Pay and Reward Centre of Expertise, liaising with the team to plan and co-ordinate day-to-day activities to meet multiple conflicting deadlines on large-scale people processes including Academic Promotion, Professorial Zone Movement, PDR, ECDP and various Reward initiatives.
2. Provide support, advice, and direction to the team to ensure complex, multi-faceted policy related enquiries are resolved in line with relevant policy, terms and conditions, and employment legislation, acting as a point of escalation where appropriate and routing enquiries onward to Lead P&OD Business Partners or other P&OD teams as required.
3. Use specialist knowledge to lead on the development of the annual team plan for large scale people processes, co-ordinating and assigning tasks to ensure competing and conflicting priorities are resolved in advance. Provide solutions to the Lead Business Partners as necessary in the most effective approaches to meeting the objectives of the team.
4. Responsible for high level data manipulation, analysis, and interpretation, using large and complex data sets to create reports and formulate recommendations for a variety of senior stakeholders and committees. This will include the analysis and trend analysis of data from the key large- scale processes.
5. Take ownership for the delivery of operational reward administration, for example the collation of data for the three salary survey providers and the provision of comprehensive statistical data trend analysis of key reward processes.
6.Take responsibility for planning and preparing communications in relation to the key people processes handled by the team.
7. Responsible for the development of key policy support documents, such as internal People & OD process guides to support effective and consistent provision of specialised, customer-focused advice in relation to the large- scale people processes.
8. To provide operational management of the University Benefit proposition, including participating in tender processes and the day-to-day contract management with benefit providers.
9. Design and deliver upskilling for the Performance, Pay & Reward team and wider People & OD administrative teams on a range of matters including system use and our key large-scale processes, ensuring that our delivery partners have the relevant knowledge and skillset.
10. Responsible for operational Performance, Pay and Reward complaint resolution with recommendation and implementation of courses of action as appropriate.
11. Any other duties that fall within the area of the post as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through personal development and progression in a similar HR related role(s), or, Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar HR role.
A2 Well developed knowledge of HR best practice and employment legislation.
A3 Working knowledge of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation.
Desirable:
B1 Associate CIPD membership and/or Level 5 CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management (or equivalent).
B2 Knowledge of University policies and procedures, legislation, best practice, custom and practice, terms and conditions of employment, and service standards.
B3 Knowledge and understanding of Reward and Benefit processes.

C6 Excellent IT skills, including a high level of numeracy and competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and data manipulation.
C7 Team player with proven track record of working flexibly to respond to unforeseen changes to priorities.
C8 Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with tact, diplomacy, and discretion at all times.
Experience
Essential:
E1 Experience of providing clear and high-quality information, advice, and guidance to managers and staff on complex people related policies.
E2 Experience of dealing with challenging situations and independently resolving issues.
E3 Experience of manipulating, analysing, and interpreting complex data sets, to present to key stakeholders in a simplified way, to support decision making.
E4 Experience of taking a lead role in reviewing processes and practice, making recommendations for continuous improvement and implementing subsequent improvement initiatives
E5 Extensive experience in the use of HR systems, e.g. PeopleXD and Helpdesk software.
E6 Experience of managing a demanding workload and managing conflicting priorities effectively.
E7 Experience of effectively managing highly confidential date.
Desirable:
F1 Experience of leading or co-ordinating a team.
F2 Experience of delivering presentations and management briefing/training sessions.
F3 Experience of working in the Further/Higher Education sector.
F4 Experience of working in a unionised environment.
F5 Experience of contributing to the design/development of HR systems.

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,232 - £36,924 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
