Job Summary

Robert Gordon University (RGU) offers staff and students alike a distinctive, professionally-focused academic environment in which our demand- led teaching helps individuals to develop and prosper. Underpinning this are, of course, our first-class research capabilities and facilities.

These posts provide an exciting opportunity for passionate Research Assistants with an interest in battery recycling.

With the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy storage, the demand for batteries is increasing. By focusing on battery recycling, UK can support the transition to clean energy by ensuring a sustainable supply of materials for battery production. This contributes to the development of a more resilient and sustainable energy infrastructure.

This project will apply a high porous material, which will be used to remove the metals from the battery impregnated parts such as cathode, anode, electrolyte, and separator. This process will save energy and carbon footprint compared to the current methodology which is use of Battery Recycling Shredders.

The project funding includes an agreed budget for 2 part-time members of staff to be employed, as Research Assistants, as follows:

Post 1 - 21.75 hrs per week for 18 months

Post 2 - 18.75 hrs per week for 6 months

To apply, submit your CV and a covering letter, detailing how you meet the requirements for the role.
