INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES IN THE LIBERAL ARTS - PART-TIME LECTURER POOL. Interdisciplinary Studies in the Liberal Arts (ISLA) at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers. Positions are available as determined by need and funding during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters of the 2023-2024 academic year, which begins September 14th, 2023. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience, and time base. ISLA offers classes in a wide variety of subjects. Possible courses include: Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies; Introduction to Science, Technology & Society; Introduction to Media Art & Technologies; Values & Technology; Topics and Issues in Values, Media and Culture; Media Art & Technologies: Storytelling; Media Art & Technologies: Cinematic Processes; and Interdisciplinary Research Methods.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2022, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are: Lecturer A: $4,530-$6,056 Lecturer B: $5,405-$11,994 Lecturer C: $6,190-$13,172 Lecturer D: $7,794-$13,797

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Master's degree in a relevant liberal arts or other related discipline and previous college-level teaching experience is required to teach all courses.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. or terminal degree preferred.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Interdisciplinary Studies in the Liberal Arts (ISLA) offers interdisciplinary classes to support a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies as well as four interdisciplinary minors: Ethics, Public Policy, Science & Technology; Gender, Race, Culture, Science & Technology; Media Arts, Society & Technology; and Science and Risk Communication. Many ISLA courses satisfy university general education and breadth requirements.
