    Your New Team

    Join the Gladstone Region engaging in action Together (GRT) Backbone Team. GRT is a Stronger Places, Stronger People initiative of the Australian Government in partnership with Queensland Government and local partners. The role is employed at CQUniversity and reports to the GRT Executive Director.

    Your New Role

    In this role you will oversee and manage the GRT team, providing strong leadership which models the University's and GRT's values and culture. You will effectively manage resources and enable the GRT Team to ensure the efficient delivery of project deliverables and outcomes in accordance with priorities of the GRT Theory of Change and Gladstone Region Wellbeing Action Plan. You will maintain open communication with the Executive Director and provide regular updates on strategic opportunities and risks, report variances, trends, anticipated changes, identified improvements and impacts on culture, performance, planned deliverables and scheduled activities.

    The role is critical in avoiding scope creep by maintaining focus on deliverables and ensuring that the work is community-led in every aspect. You will support the team in updating, prioritising and delivering the GRT operational plan as the delivery function of the community-designed Gladstone Region Wellbeing Action Plan, including managing contracts and partnerships, measurement and reporting, stakeholder communications and budget management. You will demonstrate and inspire a learning, evaluation and continuous improvement approach alongside all stakeholders and as a supervisor, mentor, support and guide team members and undertake probationary and regular performance review processes, approve staff leave in line with operational requirements, allocate and monitoring workload and promote staff recognition.

    You will represent the Executive Director as required for stakeholder meetings including updates to external stakeholders, Government representatives and facilitation of Leadership Group meetings and provide support for team absences for facilitation of Working Groups, Workshops or meetings.

    Position Requirements
  • Commitment to the vision and values of GRT and act at all times in the best interests of the Gladstone Region community.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in Business, Social, Human Resources, or related field.
  • At least 5-10 years of relevant work experience, including at least 5 years managing teams in a fast-paced delivery and change environment.
  • Community development, social change or collective impact experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the work undertaken by the GRT team and how it impacts on the Gladstone Region community.
  • Local knowledge of the Gladstone Region.
  • Familiarity with first nations communities and history within the Australian or local context.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performance teams and inspiring confidence and passion in both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced planning and project management skills, including the ability to think strategically over multi-year horizons and deliver on key goals and outcomes.
  • Strong data acumen and ability to oversee complex shared-measurement systems.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills tailored to multiple audiences.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with a diverse set of high-profile stakeholders.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with, or ability to build relationships with, a cross-sectoral range of stakeholders in the local or regional area, including senior executives.
  • Demonstrated success in attracting intentional funding, business case or proposal writing, development of successful partnerships, and management of partnership relationships.
