Position Summary Information
Position Summary Slippery Rock University invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate (Tenure Track) Faculty for its nursing programs. This faculty member will primarily teach theoretical, lab, and clinical courses in the Pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The Nursing Faculty member will be a crucial contributor to the academic and professional development of nursing students, ensuring they are well-prepared for successful careers in the nursing profession.

Key Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum Delivery: Teach courses within the BSN program, including theoretical, lab, and clinical components. Employ evidence-based teaching practices to deliver high-quality education that meets program objectives and prepares students for licensure. This position will be primarily responsible for teaching foundational and medical-surgical nursing courses. Course Development: Collaborate with colleagues in the development, review, and continuous improvement of the nursing curriculum. Ensure that course content aligns with current best practices and regulatory requirements. Clinical Supervision: Oversee and evaluate student performance in clinical and lab settings. Provide guidance and support to students as they apply theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare environments. Student Advising: Guide academic progress, career goals, and professional development of pre-licensure undergraduate nursing students. Support students in their preparation for the NCLEX-RN and entry into the nursing profession. Research and Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities relevant to the nursing field. Contribute to the body of knowledge through research, publications, and presentations at professional conferences.
Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university committees. Contribute to the ongoing development and success of the nursing program through active involvement in faculty meetings and program planning activities. Professional Development: Maintain currency in nursing and nursing education by participating in professional development activities. Stay informed of advances in nursing practice, education, and technology.
Minimum Qualifications Licensure: Unencumbered and current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in Pennsylvania with nursing practice experience for at least five years. Education:
1. Must have a graduate degree in nursing.
2. Earned PhD/EdD or completed doctoral degree by the start date. Experience: Experience in medical surgical nursing required. Interest or experience with scholarly research. Demonstrated satisfactory experience with teaching in a nursing program for at least two years. Clinical, classroom, lab and simulation-based learning teaching experience required. Additional Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work with students and scholars from diverse cultural backgrounds. Knowledge of issues and trends in nursing education. Demonstrated good judgment and commitment to program excellence. Interest in understanding and supporting the mission.

Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching demonstration is required.
Preferred Qualifications Specialty Certification: Certification in a nursing specialty area is preferred. Clinical Expertise: Strong clinical expertise in medical-surgical nursing. Experience with supporting students and programs with the clinical placement process. Teaching Philosophy: Demonstrate commitment to student-centered teaching and learning. Experience with innovative teaching methods, including simulation and online education. Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students in a team-oriented environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
