Position Description

The University of Saint Joseph invites applications for a dynamic leader to serve as Director of Graduate Nursing Programs. This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership, academic oversight, and operational direction across our range of programs including Master’s (with FNP or PMHNP specialization), Doctoral (DNP), and Post-Graduate Certificate programs.

This full-time, 12-month, Tenure Track/ Non-Tenure Track position includes the opportunity to collaborate with and mentor faculty and directly engage with students through teaching and advising. The ideal candidate will use evidence-based best practices in nursing education and cultivate robust clinical partnerships to optimize the practice-readiness of advanced practice nurses and leaders. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, continued professional development, have a record of service to the School/University, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the university.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee curriculum development and continuous improvements in collaboration with track coordinators, to align with accreditation standards, industry needs, and best practices in advanced nursing education.
• Collaborate with clinical partners to secure and maintain high-quality clinical placements that support student learning and program objectives.
• Engage in ongoing program evaluation and accreditation activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives related to program marketing, student recruitment, and enrollment growth.
• Deliver high-quality instruction and mentorship to graduate students, foster clinical competence, professional growth, and evidence-based practice.
• Provide advising, mentorship, and professional guidance to graduate students, supporting their academic success, clinical competence, and transition into advanced nursing practice.
• Maintain active engagement in professional organizations and networks to enhance program visibility and ensure alignment with current trends in advanced practice nursing.
• Collaborate across departments and disciplines to support interprofessional education and community engagement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field (PhD, EdD, DNP)
• Licensed or eligible for license by the state of Connecticut as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience.
• Minimum of three years of full-time experience in teaching and curriculum development at the collegiate level.
• Commitment to the mission and values of the University and to the highest standards of the profession of Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience in higher education
• Experience in online education
• Licensed or eligible for license by the state of Connecticut as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
• Developing or continuing an active program of scholarship.
