  • Role Description

Are you a mycologist working in one of the core expansion areas listed below? Are you motivated to play your part in achieving a Net Zero future? Do you have blue-sky ideas you want to develop? Are you ambitious for achievement and looking to drive further success and impact to promote applied mycology?

As part of the creation of the new Magan Centre of Applied Mycology (MCAM), we are growing our team and are recruiting outstanding academic talent to support the expansion of the centre to develop 5 core areas of our research and teaching within our Environment and Agrifood subject areas.

    About Environment and Agrifood:

Recognised by industry, government and academia for our research, academics from Environment and Agrifood have built an international reputation for research and education, providing the solutions to build a more resilient future. We work with international and domestic agriculture and food companies, environment agencies, NGOs and policy makers to ensure our research benefits all in society. About the Role(s)

Our academic and research staff, including scientists, engineers, technologists, policy specialists and social scientists, are engaged in delivering postgraduate teaching, research, consultancy and training in a national and international arena.

The applied mycology expansion areas available to apply for are:

    - mycomaterials

    - fungal-based bioenergy

    - sustainable manufacturing

    - indoor environment and green construction

    - environmental mycoremediation

You will need to apply for each expansion area individually with a maximum of 2 areas and ensure your supporting statement provides details of your experience specific to area of application and whether you are applying for Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professor.

    About You

Talented researchers and academics, who are enthusiastic about research in any of the above-mentioned specialist areas, have a PhD relevant to one of these areas, want to make a difference with your industry partners, and are keen to be part of a dynamic and professional team, are invited to apply.

You will be able to demonstrate a promising track-record of achievements, including generating income, appropriate to your research area and career stage including significant publications (as main author) in the leading international peer-reviewed journals of your respective field. You will be expected to develop and build long term relationships with industry, science programmes and professional bodies.

To be successful in this role you will be comfortable with change, willing to work flexibly, and open to new ways of doing things. Importantly, you will be able to collaborate with and influence people and build relationships quickly, and you will be eager to play a full role in the fast-moving and exciting MCAM project.
