  • Position Summary:

    The Medical Assisting Clinical Lab Coordinator is a part-time position with the primary responsibility of preparing for clinical lab classes. This includes but is not limited to setting out supplies and equipment, conducting routine maintenance, and inventory control. The position will coordinate with the Program Faculty and Director to ensure workplace safety and compliance with OSHA, bloodborne pathogen and hazardous materials requirements. Critical thinking skills are a must.

    Duties:

    100• prepare for clinical laboratory class sessions • assure proper equipment and supplies are available and ready • start up and shut down of equipment and analyzers • clean, calibrate and adjust laboratory equipment as needed between class sessions • maintain the clinical laboratory for cleanliness and safety o countertops o drawers o storage areas o decontaminating o autoclaving • monitor sharps and biohazard collection • complete weekly, monthly and semester inventory • create supply order list • unpack and store supplies upon arrival, restock supplies in all areas • update and maintain Lab Manual • update and maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) manuals • perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment as indicated in user manuals • assist faculty with clinical laboratory sessions as requested • other duties as assigned by Program Director and facultyEssential

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Technical expertise in maintenance and troubleshooting of clinical laboratory equipment and analyzers.
  • Critical thinking skills for assuring proper clinical workflow including maintaining a sterile field.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Knowledge of current safety OSHA, bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials regulations.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions using safe work methods and following safety regulations relating to the job.
  • Previous history of purchasing clinical lab supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with faculty and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications.
  • Preferred Experience & Education:

    CMA (AAMA)® preferred

    Required Experience & Education:

    Minimum one year of work experience in an ambulatory clinical setting.

    Salary Information:

    This is a part time, one semester position. The schedule will be one week before the semester begins and one week after the semester ends, 10 hours per week. New hires will be hired at $20.47 per hour/Temporary Grade 77 on the UA temporary staff salary schedule.
