Media and Communication (MCO) Office Aide – Media and Communication

The Office Aide is responsible for general administrative office duties, most importantly greeting, assisting, and directing all students and visitors to buildings and offices as needed. Also, the Office Aide will support the administrative assistant and the chairperson of the Media and Communication Department in a variety of capacities. For Fall 2026, we are looking for Tues/Thurs coverage.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintaining a presence at the front desk in the absence of the department administrative assistant
• Directing and answering questions for students and visitors about the SSU campus
• Answering questions about the Media and Communication Department
• Copying, scanning, and printing as needed to support administrative assistant and chairperson
• Manage incoming and outgoing mail
• Managing/organizing supplies
• Maintain paper supply in copier/printer
• Maintaining the Media and Communication Department's social media presence and department website
• Performing other administrative duties as they arise

Minimum Qualifications

• Upper level student majoring in Media and Communication strongly preferred
• Familiarity with the SSU campus and functions of various offices (i.e., the Student Navigation Center) is essential
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Strength in using social media in a professional fashion
• Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality per FERPA regulations
