MBChB Deputy Programme Lead (Assessment) Overview of the Role

Faculty of Medicine and Health

Leeds Institute of Medical Education

MBChB Deputy Programme Lead (Assessment)

This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

The University of Leeds is one of the top 75 universities in the world. We have a truly global community, with more than 39,000 students from 170 different countries and over 9,000 staff of 100 different nationalities. Established in 1904, we have a strong tradition of academic excellence, reflected in first-class student education, along with world-leading research that has a real impact around the globe.

As Deputy Programme Lead, you will support the Head of the MBChB with the management, delivery, and quality assurance of the MBChB programme, a flagship undergraduate programme for the University of Leeds. You will contribute to quality assurance across the MBChB, ensuring that the content, learning objectives, delivery, and assessment of the MBChB programme are kept under review, in accordance with the recommendations of the General Medical Council's (GMC) outcomes framework.

You will play a key strategic and oversight role in supporting the development, promotion, and delivery of the MBChB programme. Working proactively across School of Medicine, Faculty and University structures as well as the NHS, you will contribute to the identification and development of opportunities for programme improvement. This will include whole-scale curriculum review, a responsibility for promoting and monitoring teaching quality assurance, including the student experience, across the MBChB programme. As a focus of this work, you will be responsible for assessment and placement activity and assurance.

For candidates already employed by the University of Leeds, this role is available on a workload remission basis. For clinical applicants who do not currently hold a substantive contract of employment with the University, the engagement type and salary arrangements will be discussed at offer stage, with secondment being an option (subject to agreement from your employing organisation). The role will be open to both primary and secondary care clinicians. However, it is essential for applicants who are employees of NHS organisations, that those organisations are affiliated with the University of Leeds.
