Marketing Officer (Internal) - UECS

Job description

*** Internal Applicants Only ***

Department

The Campus Services teams deliver a wide range of services for the University, from catering to sports facilities, from accommodation to conference and events, and from day nursery to the luxury hotel, Wivenhoe House. Our teams aim to deliver a professional and seamless service to students, staff and visitors, supporting the University in creating vibrant campus communities and generating income for reinvestment in future development opportunities.

This position sits within the central UECS Marketing and Communications team, which provides core digital marketing support to the varied businesses and services within the Campus Services directorate.

Duties of the Role

An exciting opportunity is available in our dynamic Marketing and Communications team for a talented and committed Marketing Officer. You will plan, develop and deliver targeted marketing activity for a range of Campus Services business areas, helping to generate enquiries and leads, increase awareness, engage existing and prospective customers and support business objectives. Working closely with operational teams and University stakeholders, you will create effective campaigns and marketing materials across digital and traditional channels, manage and update website content, support events and contribute to the ongoing development of our services.

Skills and qualifications required

You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of planning and delivering creative marketing campaigns across a range of channels, including digital and social media. You will have strong writing, proofreading and web content skills, an understanding of paid advertising and SEO, and experience using content management systems. You should be able to manage competing priorities and projects to tight deadlines, work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and use market research, customer insight and campaign performance information to evaluate activity and inform future plans. Strong organisational and administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.

Knowledge of, or an interest in, one or more Campus Services areas would be an advantage. These include Catering, Events, Day Nursery, Sport, Student Accommodation, and the University’s hotel and conference facilities. Experience of digital marketing and communications, website management, social media campaigns, and email marketing will be particularly valuable.

At the University of Essex, internationalism and diversity is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries, faiths and backgrounds, where you can find the world in one place.

To support this commitment we have our Global Forum, a staff-led network that promotes and celebrates the rich cultural diversity among Essex staff, and our Colchester campus based Faith Centre, which hosts regular services, meetings and events organised by our chaplains and faith representatives.

Please see the attached job pack, which contains a full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post.
