Description

Summary:

The Marketing & Communication Specialist works in a team environment and is responsible for implementing and managing assigned marketing and communication strategies and initiatives, in accordance with the College's mission and institutional priorities. This position oversees marketing and communication tactics, creative and brand management, and institutional electronic and print materials, in concert with College policies and procedures. Specific job assignments allocated annually, and as needed. Assignments may include but are not limited to: Institutional Communication, Admissions, social media, Campus Communication Support. This position reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communication and has a support responsibility to all other departments and College personnel as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct execution of marketing tactics to meet College, campus and departmental goals and objectives. Tactics may include but are not limited to: development of content for use in printed materials, email marketing, blogs, social media and the College website; event coordination, and project management.
  • Lead marketing and communication project workflow for assigned bodies of work and special projects. This includes developing and managing timelines; ensuring efforts to meet identified outcomes; ensuring projects are accomplished within allotted budgets; ensuring projects meet high- quality standards of; and provide accurate and timely communications with department members, College employees and vendors.
  • Collaborate with and advise department supervisors, staff and administrators on all campuses, to carry out the marketing and communication plans, and initiatives of the College's Strategic Plan.
  • Contributes as a writer/editor on assigned projects.
  • Direct and implement quality-control processes for assigned body and work and special projects.
  • Maintain current professional and technical knowledge with proficient knowledge of marketing strategies, new marketing vehicles, best practices for the industry and mass- communication techniques.

  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in marketing, public relations, design or related field
  • Three years of experience in communications, with an emphasis on writing and editing across common electronic and print platforms.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to perform assigned duties with time pressures and frequent interruptions
  • Ability to utilize personal computer, various software programs, other necessary equipment
  • Ability to develop and implement new ideas and approaches
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative
  • Ability to calculate and analyze numerical data
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems and effectively apply discretion and judgement in a variety of situations
  • Ability to travel and work various hours as needed
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Experience developing marketing strategies in a college or university setting
  • Experience with graphic design software
  • Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Perform sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted and temperature- controlled office setting.
  • Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
