Position Summary

Position Title Managing Editor STUDENT POSITION

Department Communication Work Schedule Position Summary

The managing editor's main responsibility is to review and edit all written content that is created for The Forum. The managing editor helps to oversee The Forum class, assisting the editor-in-chief with story pitch meetings and journalistic workshops. The managing editor also works closely with the editor-in-chief to help students in the class develop story ideas and answer any questions students may have. The managing editor ensures that no reporter's story has conflicts of interest or bias. This editor also works with the editor-in-chief to decide if content is or is not publishable.

Required Qualifications

· Review and edit all written content produced for The Forum.

· Assist the Editor-In-Chief in conducting classes and editorial meetings.

· Publish the weekly Forum email newsletter.

· Maintain Forum style guide

Preferred Qualifications

· Strong editing and management skills

· Understanding of AP style

· Ability to think critically and act ethically

· Students should complete COMM 210, COMM 211 and COMM 304
