Managing Director of Advancement Strategy and Operations

Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations is expanding, and we are looking for a new Managing Director of Advancement Strategy and Operations. This senior leadership role will drive strategy and business planning, deliver strategic initiatives, oversee growth and expansion, guide transformation and change and operational efficiency, and foster organisational excellence.

It's an exciting time to join our team as we build on our successfully concluded "Dear World, Yours Cambridge" fundraising campaign. The momentum created by the campaign is unique and we are investing now in the team that will build on our success and take us into the future.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Managing Director of Advancement Strategy & Operations will provide overall strategic direction to a comprehensive Advancement Services programme, encapsulating gift management, information services, and finance programmes and teams, with the goal to increase efficiencies, productivity and fundraising success across Collegiate Cambridge.

We are looking for a candidate with extensive leadership experience in major gift fundraising, prospect development, business analysis, development services, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, preferably in higher education.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, extensive supervisory experience and demonstrable experience in developing good working relationships with internal and external constituency groups. They will have experience overseeing the finance function in a dynamic and complex organisation, a high level of knowledge including research databases, relational databases and other technology tools, and a demonstrable ability to manage information with the highest degree of confidentiality.

This role is based in central Cambridge and you would be expected in the office at least twice a week.
