    As the Manager (Operations) , you will oversee critical functions that support UQ's world-class research enterprise, ensuring seamless administration, governance, and service delivery. You will lead the development of compliance frameworks, enhance operational systems, and drive key reporting and funding coordination processes. With a keen focus on innovation and best practices, you will implement strategic initiatives that enhance efficiency, service quality, and stakeholder engagement.

    Key responsibilities will include:
  • Oversee and enhance operational systems, governance processes, and compliance frameworks to ensure the Research Office operates efficiently and aligns with university policies and external regulatory requirements.

  • Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance service quality, and drive continuous improvement across research funding coordination, reporting, and administrative functions.

  • Facilitate collaboration across Research Office units and engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and responsive service delivery.

  • Manage and mentor a team of professional staff, fostering a high- performance culture that supports professional growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

    You're an organised and strategic operations professional who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys solving complex challenges. With a passion for process improvement, governance, and service excellence, you're ready to take the lead in driving operational efficiency in a research-focused setting.

    To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience in operations management within a research, government, or commercial environment, with a strong understanding of governance, compliance frameworks, and policy implementation.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives, drive process improvements, and enhance service delivery in a complex organisational setting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret policies, manage data, and oversee compliance reporting.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, facilitate collaboration, and ensure effective communication across teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, with a focus on fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional development.

  • A proactive approach to digital tools and operational systems, leveraging technology to support administrative efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre- employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
