Position Title Manager, Microgrid Planning, Design and OperationRequisition # S01156P FLSA Exempt Location IIT-Mies Campus (MC), 10 West 35th St., Chicago Department Galvin Electricity Innovation GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Director of the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation, the Manager of Microgrid planning Design and Operations must have a general familiarity with electrical circuit operations and understand hardware and software design for microgrids. They must be able to read and follow technical reports and articles and produce final reports for grants and contracts. The manager must be familiar with the troubleshooting of power electronic circuits and understand electric power grid operation.
This role is externally funded and salary will be derived from research grants awarded to the university. Renewal of the role is conditional on the availability of funds from such grants.
COMMUNICATIONS
The Manager must be able to read, assemble, and understand technical reports, as well as have strong communication skills to apply for grants.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
They must have experience with managing contracts and communicating with contractors.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Education: -Master's Degree in Electric Power Engineering
Experience: - 2 years of experience with energy audits and understanding the utility billing process.
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with technical reports and articles, and assembling the final technical reports for externally funded projects - Familiarity with microgrid planning, design, and automation - Familiarity with hardware design and experience with troubleshooting electric circuits - Familiarity with software design of control systems for renewable energy units
