  • About the Role

    Reporting to the Associate Director: Corporate Finance, you will be responsible for managing financial compliance requirements of the University including the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements (AFS).

    You will be a key leader within the Finance Unit and liaise with Senior Management of the University. Leading a team of professional financial reporting accountants, you will drive the identification and implementation of strategic initiatives that will improve the financial reporting capability and accuracy, and the efficiency of the finance function in the University, whilst ensuring adherence to required accounting standards, legislation and guidelines as appropriate.

    The Finance Unit is the central business unit which provides financial services to the University and is part of the Resources Portfolio led by the Chief Operating Officer. The Finance Unit is committed to implementing effective financial and commercial practices to support the University's needs.     Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in a finance related discipline and membership of CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
  • Proven ability to lead and manage professional and skilled staff within a team that engenders a high performing collaborative service culture
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships at all levels and to respond to challenging financial matters
  • Demonstrated breadth and depth of knowledge and experience with respect to a wide range of financial and accrual accounting structures, principles and practices
  • Demonstrated experience to work with a large/complex general ledger system
