DUTIES

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive campus community. The Manager of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion & Anti-racism (EDI & AR) will play a significant role advancing the commitment by leading and coordinating initiatives aimed at promoting an equitable and inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, students and members of the university community.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Anti- racism, the Manager will work with Research Assistants and the EDI & AR team to meet the objectives of the Office of EDI & AR.

The Manager will possess subject matter knowledge and that of institutional models, policies and frameworks for addressing EDI in university settings, as well as an understanding of TRU's existing inclusion landscape intersections, and interdependencies of its communities. The Manager will develop mixed- methods EDI research projects as well as an evaluation framework to track the success of initiatives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion and advance the principles and values of EDI & AR.
  • Implement an evaluation framework to track the success of EDI related initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver training in the areas of anti-discrimination and anti- racism aligned with national and provincial legislation and best practices.
  • Develop mixed-method EDI research projects.
  • Oversee student focused EDI-related research projects.
  • Enact community engagement strategies, including surveys, focus groups and town halls.
  • Provide monitoring and evaluation of EDI initiatives.
  • Be a key member of the EDI Pan-Campus University Committee.
  • Coordinate establishment of employee EDI advisory committees and affinity groups.
  • Engage campus and external communities to build relationships, share resources and promote EDI initiatives.
  • Collaborate with TRUSU on EDI-related projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Participate in the implementation of data collection strategies to create a baseline of required EDI data and benchmarks (demographic, cultural, curricular, procedural data)
  • Conduct policy analysis and review utilizing an EDI lens and a GBA+ approach. Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in the field of EDI, and bring innovative ideas to the university.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Graduate degree in a relevant area of study, preferably with a focus on human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in complex issues related to equity and diversity and anti-racism.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing research projects.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices related to EDI.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and social justice.
  • Ability to design, develop and deliver effective training programs.
  • Experience working within a post-secondary context is strongly preferred.
