You will be part of the Scientific Instrumentation and Process Technology (SIPT) unit which is focusing its RDI activities on new instrumentation, processes and methodologies in the fields of thin film processing and nano- analytics. The RDI chain of the SIPT unit spans from fundamental science all the way up to industrial scale demonstrators. Particularly, the researcher will be integrated into the Plasma Process Engineering (PPE) group. The PPE group develops fundamental and technological expertise in the area of vapor deposition processes for advanced coatings and surfaces. The group focuses on its recognized expertise in Research and Development of both Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes for surface modification and the synthesis of functional polymer thin films and functional inorganic coatings. How will you contribute?
In the framework of national and international projects of the PPE group, you will be in charge of research activities in the field of advanced vapor deposition processes development and polymer catalyst thin films synthesis by CVD. The main mission of the R&T Associate is to conduct research, development and innovation in the aforementioned field. You will define and participate in the definition of RDI projects and be the PI of some of these RDI projects and you will intervene in the framework of projects of the PPE group and report to the group leader.
You will be mainly:
You hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Sciences, or a related field of Engineering Sciences, combined with a pronounced taste for experiments, teamwork spirit and strong motivation. Additionally, you have a strong experimental skills in the field of chemical vapor deposition of conjugated polymers for energy applications. You have a record of excellence in the synthesis, engineering and electrochemical characterisation of polymer catalyst thin films as evidenced through peer-reviewed journal publications and possess a sound experience in valorising scientific and technological results. First experience in grant writing will be considered as a strong asset. On top of this, you're highly motivated and strong team worker. You are fluent in English (both written and oral).
