NEUTRAL AND CHARGED FLOWS
Permanent contract Fulltime/40h Belval
Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us
The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and
Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment
and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and
tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their
decisions and businesses in their strategies.
Do you want to know more about LIST? Check our website: https: // www. list.lu/

You will be part of the Scientific Instrumentation and Process Technology
(SIPT) unit which is focusing its RDI activities on new instrumentation,
processes and methodologies in the fields of nano-analytics and thin film
processing. The RDI chain of the SIPT unit spans from fundamental science all
the way up to industrial scale demonstrators. Particularly, the researcher
will be integrated into the Advanced Instrumentation for Nano-Analytics
(AINA) group (https: // www. list.lu/en/materials/scientific-instrumentation-
and-process-technology/group/advanced-instrumentation-for-nano-analytics/).
The AINA group focuses on the development of scientific instruments based on
charged particle beams and laser beams and correlative workflows taking
advantage of these instruments. The group's R&D activity covers fundamental
investigations, instrument development and application development. We are a
multi-disciplinary team giving the group the complete spectrum of know-how
that is required to convert innovative ideas and concepts into prototype
instruments.
How will you contribute?
Your responsibilities will include:
Conceptualizing and developing novel laser-based techniques (both linear
and non-linear) for diagnostics of all states of matter, as well as for
particle manipulation;
Elaborating and testing novel scientific and technological concepts for
nano-analytical techniques based on laser technologies;
Defining and leading new project activities in this field, including
writing and submitting proposals for competitive funding and collaborating
with industrial partners such as instrument manufacturers;
Actively collaborating with other researchers in order to promote
interdisciplinary activities internally and externally;
Mentoring post-doc researchers and PhD students participating in these
projects;
Disseminating, valorising and transferring RDI results (patents,
licenses, prototypes, publications, technical reports, participation in
conferences, etc.);
Participating in the management of the group's laboratories and taking
charge of some of the group's instruments, including fulfilling the
equipment quality and compliance follow-up and training the users;
Reporting to the group leader.

You hold a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Sciences, or a related
field of Engineering Sciences. You have a proven expertise in light-
matter interactions for diagnostic purposes and/or for particle manipulation
purposes, including e.g. neutral gas flow diagnostics, plasma diagnostics,
optical tweezers and post ionization mechanisms. Additionally, you have
notions of photon-atom and photon-ion interactions, e.g. in the context of
ionization processes. You are an experimentalist but are also familiar with
simulation tools in the relevant field. You have experience in grant writing
and possess a sound experience in valorising scientific and technological
results. On top of this, you're highly motivated and have a strong teamworking
spirit. You are fluent in English (both written and oral). You're the one
we're looking for!
