Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm.

  • Non-traditional work hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays depending on the needs of the university community.
  • Some positions will have permanent overnight shifts.
  • Flexibility is required to ensure the department is appropriately staffed in order to satisfy all service needs.
  • Professional development, conferences, and training may require travel and/or overnight accommodations.

    A member of the Resource Delivery team, the Library Specialist identifies, locates, retrieves and delivers electronic and physical materials to internal and external borrowers through the ILLiad platform.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist users in discovering and accessing library resources.
  • Safeguard legal and ethical use of library resources.
  • Provide excellent communications and customer service to the University and external communities.
  • Analyze and organize information and technology resources in order to meet users' needs.
  • Create and maintain accurate records.
  • Practice sound internal control of University property including financial and purchasing activities.
  • Initiate proactive problem solving and advocate for solutions that promote transformative learning experiences.
  • Contribute to University and library planning and the establishment of policies and procedures.
  • Keep informed of and follow pertinent policies.
  • Act as a project manager for library initiatives that includes establishing routines, priorities, and workflow, verifying work, and coordinating other staff, as assigned.
  • Encourage and support colleagues, students, and faculty by engaging in intra- and inter-departmental events, programs, and initiatives. Report equipment, security, and repair needs in the library through efficient and effective communication to appropriate parties. Hire and train and supervise student workers

    Required Qualifications

  • High School graduation or GED.
  • Two years related experience.
  • Computer literate and technologically adept.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience working in the resource sharing / ILL unit in an academic library.
  • Experience with Interlibrary Load management systems such as ILLiad.
  • Experience related to database management and record keeping.
  • Experience with OCLC WorldCat searching.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving.
  • Knowledge of electronic delivery systems.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Access.
  • Familiarity with software used to convert document format types.
  • Familiarity with scanning and editing software.
  • Experience with the Document Delivery (or Resource Sharing) and Circulation.
