  • About This Opportunity

    This position provides excellent service to students and academics of UQ. The position holder will work primarily within Library Student Experience (LSX) in the Client Experience (CX) team. LSX provides front line services to students and academics supporting all their library and information needs.

    Library Services Officers are vital to the delivery of the mission of the Library and the University. Position holders contribute to a positive client experience; support teaching, learning and research at the University as appropriate to the team. The position holder may move between different teams in the Library due to variations in service demand.

    Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide information, advice, and solutions on library resources, UQ systems, and services, addressing student needs and referring for specialized assistance when necessary.

  • Monitor and address maintenance or repair issues in library spaces, contribute to the development and maintenance of library documentation and statistical reports, and ensure compliance with library practices.

  • Support colleagues, coordinate workflows, and assist with small projects, demonstrating flexibility in assisting across library operational activities and sites.

  • Contribute to team goals, continuous improvement initiatives, procedural document compilation, and the implementation of change initiatives while carrying out rostered shifts and other tasks as directed.

  • Secondary duties include:

  • Provide high-quality printing/copying services, including machine maintenance, consumables management, fault response, and database management for student printing accounts, ensuring efficient operation and customer satisfaction.

  • Assist with the lifecycle of information resource provision and management, encompassing digitization, creation, ordering, processing, uploading, invoicing, troubleshooting client or supplier issues, and creating, editing, maintaining, and deleting library and institutional records, including metadata, and digitizing materials using various equipment and software.

  • About You
  • Possess a relevant diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience, demonstrating proficiency in service delivery, technology usage, compliance with policies, resource management, and timely delivery.

  • Demonstrate digital capabilities, including competence in software applications such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with library management systems, and adept data entry skills adhering to metadata schemas and procedures.

  • Proven track record of delivering quality results with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, proactive issue resolution, adherence to timelines, and proactive engagement within a team context.

  • Demonstrate effective self-organization, self-motivation, and self- leadership through seeking input, managing timelines, providing feedback, contributing to team goals, engaging in learning, and proactive participation in workplace discussions while maintaining a positive and cooperative attitude.

  • You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
