Library Assistant (Library & IT Service Desk), Grade 2, Multiple Permanent, Full-Time Vacancies

Applications are invited for three permanent, full-time vacancies as Library Assistant (Library & IT Service Desk), Grade 2, in the University of Galway Library.

The Library and IT Service Desk team are the initial point of interaction for all students, staff, and researchers and are responsible for providing users with assistance, information, and support relating to both Library and IT resources and services.

The Service Desk provides access to high quality support through a combination of online support, via phone, email/ticketing system, online chat, and via the helpdesk in the Library. The postholder will play a key role in delivering exceptional, customer-centric Library and IT support to a wide-ranging customer base.

Please note that Written and Oral competence in Irish at B2 level (at least) on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning (enclosed) is an essential requirement for this position. Applicants, who have not previously satisfied this criterion on recruitment to their post, will be required to complete an Irish assessment.

Salary: €30,446 - €48,156 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011) and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University's Remuneration policy. QA321-Updated-PP-Remuneration.pdf (universityofgalway.ie)

This appointment will be made on the Grade 2 scale in line with current Government pay policy.
