The Office of University General Education offers two foundation courses in general education, which require students to read influential classics from the humanities and the natural sciences, and to reflect on major issues of human concern in small-group seminars (https:// www. cuhk.edu.hk/oge/gef).
We are seeking a Lecturer with a strong background in liberal arts to teach the foundation course “In Dialogue with Humanity”. Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in a humanities or social science discipline; (ii) a high level of competence in both Chinese and English, in both spoken and written language; (iii) in-depth knowledge of some of the classics in the humanities and social sciences, and (iv) a strong commitment to teaching and the pursuit of knowledge. Familiarity with some areas of China studies would be an advantage.
The appointee may be assigned to teach other courses offered by the unit. He/she will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and enhancement of teaching and learning in general education.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing August 2025, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
