Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Science MU is providing teaching of Mathematics and Statistics across the Masaryk University and it is an important research unit in many areas of Mathematics and Statistics, see www. math.muni.cz .

Job Description

Key Duties:

  • The main purpose of the position is to carry out pedagogical and creative tasks in accordance with the mission of the Faculty, activities of the department and ongoing research projects
  • Teaching in mathematics, applied mathematics and numerical methods
  • Supervision of bachelor and master thesis
  • Skills and Qualifications

    The applicant must have:

  • University degree in mathematics or applied mathematics
  • Ph.D. in applied mathematics, or perspective of defence of the thesis in near future
  • Experience in teaching applied mathematics at university level, in Czech or Slovak language
  • Active knowledge of English allowing teaching and presenting results on international conferences in English
  • Publications in high quality international journals
  • Experience with teaching mathematical modelling and numerical methods at university level
  • Experience with applications of mathematical modelling in practice
  • The applicant should have:

  • Knowledge of the R and Python programming languages will be appreciated
  • Experience with computational statistics and data analysis will be appreciated
  • Broad overview of applied mathematics and numerical method will be appreciated
