The School is seeking to enhance its capacity within our Property discipline through the appointment of an experienced Lecturer, with industry experience. We have the option of full-time and part-time opportunity for the suitable applicant.

Your new role Do you have passion to teach property students? Do you have industry experience that you would like to bring to our Property Development and Valuation major? We are seeking a Lecturer (Teaching Academic) to commence by June 2024 to join our small, award-winning property discipline. Our courses are accredited by both the Australian Property Institute and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. We bring property education excellence and industry experience into the classroom. Through strong links with the property industry, we are very successful in connecting students to industry enriching their learning experience. In this position, you will make a significant contribution to teaching students. You will support curriculum development and deliver high quality and innovative teaching in the area of propertyand valuation to ensure that Curtin property students graduate with the knowledge and skills required for their future careers.

  • Conduct learning activities online or face-to-face as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
  • Innovative curriculum design and development of learning materials in collaboration with other colleagues, as appropriate.
  • Provide appropriate teaching and learning support to students and deliver an exceptional student experience.
  • Assess student work and provide feedback on student learning.
  • Supervise postgraduate and higher degree by research students.
  • Keep up to date with current discipline theory and practice and apply these in teaching and learning.
  • Essential Criteria

  • Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) of the Australian Property Institute (API) or be a Chartered Member (MRICS) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  • Masters qualification or equivalent and at least 5 years professional work in the Australian Property industry.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position
  • Desirable criteria

  • A masters or doctoral qualification in relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated teaching skills
  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake unit coordination.
