  • Role Description Introduction

Following a period of sustained growth, the University of York School for Business and Society (SBS) is seeking to strengthen its academic research and teaching in accounting and finance.

We are looking to appoint three new colleagues to join the Accounting, Finance and Actuarial Science group: one lecturer in Accounting; one lecturer in Finance and one senior lecturer in Accounting and Finance.

We welcome applications from excellent candidates who embrace our vision and passion for advancing sustainable business, community and society and who undertake research in any area of accounting and finance using any theoretical and methodological approaches. You will be joining a thriving community of academics who are leaders in their fields, and who are committed to excellence in research, teaching and outreach. We have established a strong track record of publishing in internationally excellent journals, receiving major indicators of academic esteem, and leading large UKRI funded projects that are delivering significant real-world impact.

Faculty teach across our successful programmes at post and undergraduate level, including our online MBA, planned Executive MBA and shared suite of Finance programmes, with significant opportunities to expand and develop this portfolio. A significant proportion of this teaching is delivered from our new, state of the art Church Lane building. In terms of areas of teaching expertise, we expect candidates to contribute to modules like Auditing; Company Law; Financial Reporting; Contemporary Issues in Accounting and Finance; Sustainability in Accounting; Green Finance and Sustainability investing; Corporate Risk Management; Financial Intermediaries, Instruments and Markets; and Data Analytics in Accounting and Finance. This list is not exhaustive and other areas of expertise in accounting and finance will also be considered.

As a new department at York, SBS signals a distinctive approach towards conducting management and social policy research and teaching. We are uniquely placed to lead business and public policy action to tackle complex social and environmental grand challenges and have an ambitious vision to become the natural home within the UK for world-leading management scholars who work alongside experts in other academic disciplines as well as their own. This interdisciplinary approach, we believe, enriches the vibrancy and relevance of our research and our teaching.

    Role

  • To develop research objectives, projects and proposals in accounting and finance and carry out individual or collaborative research projects
  • Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
